SUMMARY:

The Leadership Gift Officer is primarily responsible for (i) identifying and qualifying prospects, (ii) soliciting and closing four and five-figure philanthropic gifts; and (iii) helping build a donor pipeline, to advance the strategic priorities of the University of Richmond. The Leadership Gift Officer will be responsible for managing a portfolio of rated prospects assigned to a geographic region(s), and for establishing and achieving annual performance metrics on an individual and team basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage a portfolio of assigned leadership gift prospects. Through personal and virtual engagement, identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, close, and steward prospects for leadership and potential major level gifts. Meet activity and revenue goals through personal outreach and regular travel.
• Formulate and implement strategies for short-and long-term giving outcomes, devising performance metrics, and collaborating with major giving officer(s) in assigned region, as well as the Director of Parent Philanthropy
• Ensure compliance with prospect management guidelines for data entry and metric tracking
• Attend regularly scheduled University, Advancement, Development, and individual meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated record of soliciting and closing four and five-figure philanthropic gifts
• Ability to exercise good judgment, demonstrate an understanding of the ethical principles associated with working in development, and to use discretion in interactions with members of the University of Richmond community.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
• Strong written, communication, organizational, and analytical skills as well as a sense of humor.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft office and fund-raising software applications, including database management.
• Ability and willingness to maintain an external travel schedule

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of three to five years of experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education, with a proven track record of success
• Experience successfully soliciting and closing leadership/annual gifts is preferred

WORK HOURS:

• Full-time, exempt position
• Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
• Seasonal, evening, and weekend work will be periodically required throughout the year (e.g. Family Weekend, Homecoming Reunion, etc.)
• Frequent travel is expected

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 7 (Hiring Range $52,829.00 to $69,999.00 annually)
