JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Institute for Student Success Business Manager, the part-time ISS Administrative Program Support 2 will work as part of an administrative team to provide administrative support for a variety of programs within the Institute, including the Center for Academic Programs and First-Year Programs, Learning Communities, and the Academic Achievement Center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a resource to students, staff, faculty, and others on matters relating to administrative procedures and Department programs.
  • Manages scheduling for unit conference rooms
  • Coordinates room reservations and catering requests for staff meetings and events
  • Maintains and manages department calendars and mail both print and electronic
  • Assists in the maintenance and modification of complex filing and record-keeping systems
  • Assists with travel arrangements for meetings, conferences, and travel for Department staff
  • Serves as primary contact for technology and facilities related projects for the unit including providing technical support, monitoring work orders, ordering and tracking supplies and equipment, and coordinating telecommunications equipment and system access
  • May supervise student workers
  • Provides support for hiring processes for student, staff, special payroll, and permanent staff as needed including assisting with advertisements, interview scheduling, and onboarding tasks
  • Updates Department websites
  • Provides additional administrative support as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of related administrative experience OR an Associate’s degree and at least four years of related administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects under limited supervision
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Administrative experience in higher education
  • Knowledge of University of Connecticut policies and procedures
  • Experience with troubleshooting technical problems
  • Experience with website development/updates
APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a permanent part-time (17.5 hours/week) position with the possibility of transitioning to full-time in the future. The University offers outstanding benefits including retirement, paid holidays, sick time, and vacation, and a highly desirable work environment. Salary will be in the low $20k and will be commensurate with experience.
