To strengthen an existing focus on ecological research, West Virginia University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Biology (http://biology.wvu.edu) to begin August 2022.
We seek an individual who uses empirical and advanced analytical techniques to link the physiology of trees and/or microbes with ecosystem processes and their subsequent responses to climate change across multiple levels of biological organization ranging from genes to ecosystems. Requirements include a broad biology background with a PhD or equivalent degree in biology, ecology or a related field, a strong record of scholarly publications, strong interdisciplinary skills to develop an externally funded independent research program, openness to collaborative research, ability to contribute to the department’s undergraduate and graduate teaching and research missions, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
The Department of Biology offers a diverse, productive, and well-funded research environment that is highly supportive of new junior faculty. Existing departmental strengths include molecular genetics, behavioral neuroscience, genomics, and ecology.
WVU is a R1 research land grant university located within 90 minutes of Pittsburgh and 3.5 hours from the Washington/Baltimore area.
