Job Details

Department:   Physics

Positions:  Nuclear Physics

Rank:  Assistant Professor

Description:  The Department of Physics at The Ohio State University anticipates a tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment effective Autumn 2022 in the research area of experimental accelerator-based nuclear physics.  Ohio State has a strong research effort in ultrarelativistic heavy ion physics at RHIC/BNL and LHC/CERN.  We envision a candidate who will initiate new efforts at a next-generation facility such as the Electron Ion Collider (EIC) or the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB).  In addition to large dedicated laboratory space, the faculty member will benefit through interactions with a strong nuclear theory group with leaders in RHIC, FRIB and EIC physics.

Qualifications:  Candidates with an established research record are invited to apply. We are seeking candidates who, in addition to building their independent research program, will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  The Department values diversity, is committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community, and strongly encourages applications from women and minorities.  Candidates must hold a PhD in physics or a closely related field.  Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
