Summary of Position: Indiana Wesleyan University seeks applications for a full-time permanent faculty position on the Marion, Indiana campus starting by Fall 2022. The successful candidate will combine engaging teaching with scholarly endeavors, preferably involving undergraduate research.

The Division of Mathematics and Computer Information Sciences offers majors in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, Mathematics-Interdisciplinary, and Mathematics Education, minors in Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, and Statistics, and also teaches pre-engineering and general education courses. The Division is pursuing starting a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) degree with five concentrations in civil, mechanical, electrical, computer, and design engineering as well as a Data Science degree. The Division currently has 6.5 full-time faculty and approximately 55 major students.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Job responsibilities include teaching engineering courses at all undergraduate levels, including general engineering and discipline-specific engineering courses, as well as student mentoring, curriculum and laboratory course development and assessment in support of ABET accreditation, senior project supervision, community industry engagement, and university service. Scholarship and participation in professional organizations are expected and supported. Teaching load is 12 credits per semester with some opportunities for scholarship load exchange or assignment to other supporting mathematics, physics, or computer science courses as needed.

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Possession of or pursuing an earned doctorate in Engineering, specifically in the fields of civil, computer, design, electrical, or mechanical engineering.

Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.
  • Prior undergraduate teaching experience preferred.
