- Works as a member of the health care team to meet overall needs of the individuals by implementing the plan of care developed by the interdisciplinary treatment team
- Provides clinical oversight and direction to direct care staff related to health care needs.
- Assures that medications and treatment supplies are current and properly ordered, stored and accounted for.
- Administers medications and completes treatment procedures according to current nursing standards.
- Maintains accurate medical records regarding medications, treatment, symptoms and conditions including anticipated and adverse response to medications and/or treatments.
- Observes individuals, charts and reports changes in conditions, including anticipated and any adverse response to medications and/or treatments. Conducts purposeful patient rounds in accordance with unit requirements and accurately documents patient observations. Modifies milieu according to developmental needs of the patients in collaboration with Treatment Team and professional registered nurse. Takes necessary action to ensure safety and positive outcomes.
- Measures and records vital signs as needed. Reports results as indicated by orders or based on findings.
- Provides health care and treatments, such as treating decubitus, dressing wounds, giving enemas, performing catherizations, assisting with measuring and monitoring weights, and administering tube feedings. Assists individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including positioning, transferring, and ambulation, as needed. Records and reports food and fluid intake and output when indicated.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduation from an LPN program with a minimum of one year of licensed practical nursing experience with a preference for psychiatric mental health nursing experience
- Current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse in the State of Georgia
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
- Ability to implement proper medication administration techniques and procedures.
- Ability to assist with health-related aspects of care.
- Ability to communicate information effectively to members of the health care team (oral, written, electronic).
- Ability to perform routine nursing procedures.
- Ability to maintain accurate medical records of symptoms, conditions, medications, treatments and individual's responses.
