The Temple Health Institutional Advancement (THIA) is searching for an experienced, detail-oriented, and motivated candidate to join our goal-oriented team as the Associate Director of Events. The Associate Director of Events will lead, strategize, and manage a portfolio of events within the Temple Health Institutional Advancement office, in particular the marquee fundraiser for Temple University Hospital – the Acres of Diamonds Gala.

Reporting to the Director of Events, the Associate Director of Events will provide a high level of event management and operational support to the events team, with an emphasis on delivering an exemplary customer service experience for all constituents. The incumbent will work collaboratively with members of the Temple Health Institutional Advancement team and Temple Health stakeholders at Lewis Katz School of Medicine and Temple University Health System to plan and execute superior programs and events that meet or exceed stated experience and revenue goals for Temple Health Institutional Advancement. The ideal candidate will have experience with fundraising events and managing sponsorship solicitation for high-visibility fundraising events.

Responsibilities include: devises strategies and manages a portfolio of events for engagement with key donor and prospect segments in partnership with various THIA colleagues to ensure a relevant, meaningful experience; project lead for Acres of Diamonds Gala and other key events for Temple Health; responsible for contacting vendors for quotes and reviewing contracts, banquet orders, etc.; submitting paperwork to legal for University/Health System review of documents; Monitors expenditures for a select number of events and track fundraising progress; manages fundraising pipeline for revenue generating events including an individual portfolio to solicit sponsors and identify new prospects; demonstrates an excellent attention to detail and follow-through, and the ability to adapt as new situations arise; manages all aspects of engagement execution; scope includes project management, event design, segmentation, invitation strategy, compilation of invitation lists, vendor management, volunteer management, drafting correspondence and acknowledgments, and day-of and post-event management; executes various event-based operations including: coordinating event builds on website; posting events to events calendars; tracking RSVP’s and inputting event registrants/attendees into INB Banner and Event Management or equivalent platform; develops internal and external marketing and communications strategies and tactics related to event experience, including the management of a marketing and communications plan, and execution across a variety of channels – print, web, e-mail, social media, intranet; measures and evaluates experience success against event KPIs and other deliverables; collaborates with program areas within Institutional Advancement and across the University and Temple Health enterprise to execute plans; develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; cultivates and steward donors and prospects via engagement opportunities; participate in reporting and evaluation of strategic plan performance to ensure personal, program and department goals are being met; provides event operational support for department wide initiatives; supports executive leadership Staff and work events as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree and at least 4 years of experience in event planning or fundraising preferably in higher education, healthcare, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Demonstrated experience with Banner, Mailchimp, GiveSmart, Microsoft Teams, FPM, Banner, Adobe a plus.

*The ability to work pro-actively, creatively, analytically and strategically. Exceptional interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals both inside and outside of the university.

*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

*Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to project management.

*Demonstrated ability to organize tasks and priorities.

*Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

*The ability to work evening and weekend hours, as needed.

Please note this position will temporarily work remotely, the duration of remote work will be at the discretion of Temple University and the department.
