General Description: This administrative and programmatic position works closely with NOVA’s Student Success Division and Fairfax County Public Schools in support of improving post-secondary outcomes for primarily English Language Learner (ELL) students enrolled at Justice High School, in Fairfax County. The employee will report to the Alexandria Campus Dean of Student Success. Duties and Tasks: The primary focus of this position is to assist students in the target population to develop individualized career plans and how to utilize postsecondary education resources (including Dual Enrollment, community college, industry certifications, etc.).
The Career Coach will identify career, academic and personal needs of the student and make referrals as needed to resource in the high school, college, and/or community. This position will provide wrap around services, case management and follow-up for each student, as needed; will work collaboratively with a diverse team in the high school and college to promote career programming that is geared toward career goals (i.e., career credential, increased employability, degree attainment, transfer to 4-year, etc.).In addition, the career coach will establish systematic program interventions aimed at goal achievement and prepare grant required reports adhering to designated deadlines.
The Career Coach will provide career assessments and guide students with career development (exploring careers and making decisions) and preparation for employment; engage in individual and small student group sessions; promote career programming; interact with faculty and others (on and off campus) to ensure that students have access to needed resources and support that will lead to goal achievement.
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be needed depending on related activities within the high school for students and parents or at the NOVA Alexandria Campus.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.KSA's/Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Human Resources or Education. Graduate credits in Career Development or Career Counseling. Operation of a State Vehicle:
Some years experience providing career advising, coaching or counseling in a high school or higher education setting; bilingual with proficiency in a foreign language frequently spoken in Northern Virginia households; experience utilizing PeopleSoft or other student information systems; experience working with faculty, students, parents and institutional staff.
