Summary of Duties:

Under general supervision the IT Customer Support - Entry will provide telephone-based computer and network consulting: troubleshooting, technical support, and software instructional support services to faculty, staff, and students of Washington State University. This position contains a baseline understanding of principles and theory within areas of responsibility and is developing depth of knowledge and practical application. This position also supports the implementation of system wide projects and improvements through working on a project team. The position resolves problems requiring analysis and discernment of the most suitable solutions or processes available. Uses skills and abilities to complete routine tasks at the beginning, while growing toward completing tasks of increasing complexity. Uses basic understanding of the field to perform job duties, and applies learning to recommended options to address unusual situations. Assist lower level staff and temporary employees assigned to the IT Services Crimson Service Desk phones and walk-ins.


Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a related technology field OR equivalent education and experience totaling four (4) years from which comparable knowledge and abilities are acquired.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of experience as an Information Technology Specialist 1.

  • Proficient on multiple computing platforms/operating systems.

  • Experience working effectively within higher education.

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced

Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.

Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
