Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Windows/Mac OS and applications, Music/movie editing software, Adobe Creative Cloud, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Active Directory, Web Design, Print Management, LANDesk or other desktop management software, Faronics Deepfreeze, video conferencing, and knowledge of mobile devices.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing general client IT support for the Zell Miller Learning Center and EITS staff. Personnel in this position diagnose and resolve issues pertaining to systems hardware, software, peripherals, and network devices used by UGA personnel to perform assigned work duties. This position manages the MLC Student workers and the MLC Tech Lending Program. This position directly addresses technical issues at the local level and acts as a technical liaison for resolving broader issues. This position supports Orientation student registrations, MLC VIP events, and special projects within EITS. This position provides support to the WEPA print kiosks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

EITS Support
- Provides sufficient staffing at the Miller Learning Center service desks by scheduling student workers around their class schedules keeping within UGA rules and regulations.
– Trains the MLC student workers to be effective desk consultants. This includes MS Office, Photoshop, etc. as well as Apple software used in the MLC Digital Media Lab including Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro, etc.
– Trains the MLC students how to properly use the Alma Checkout software and how to properly check in and out MLC Tech Lending equipment making sure the equipment works correctly and is not damaged when returned.
– Assists other CTS staff as needed in providing desktop support at the MLC and remote locations such as residence hall labs and other EITS client areas; assists in imaging/re-imaging machines; assists in inventory control; assists in print kiosk support; aiding in large projects or helping meet deadlines in critical situations.
– Provides technical support on supported mobile devices to EITS and external clients.
– Other duties as assigned.

WEPA Print Kiosk Support – backup - Replenishing paper and toner as needed to the WEPA Print Kiosks located throughout campus when the dedicated WEPA support person is on leave. This uses a valid driver’s license.

- Supports VIP events in the MLC involving the President or Provost to ensure a positive experience.

Standards Administration
- Helps develop and maintain UGA desktop standards and procedures
- Ensures that EITS staff/client computers operate within established UGA policy and procedural guidelines.
– Works with senior UGA personnel and non-UGA resource personnel to resolve outstanding issues in a timely manner
– Determines and maintains computer resources by established UGA and industry procedures
– Troubleshoots and reports issues to the appropriate technicians.

Meets with clients of the computer lab, partners of EITS, and other faculty and staff members for problem resolution as well as site improvements
- Attends scheduled staff meetings for presentations, updates, problem resolution, and procedural discussions
