The International Studies Association (ISA) at the University of Connecticut announces the opening of a full-time Financial Assistant 2. The International Studies Association, one of the oldest interdisciplinary associations, is dedicated to understanding international, transnational, and global affairs. Founded in 1959, ISA’s more than 7,000 members span the globe – comprising academics, practitioners, policy experts, private-sector workers, and independent researchers, among others. The Association has long served as a central hub for the exchange of ideas and for networking and programmatic initiatives among those involved in the study, teaching, and practice of International Studies.
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations for ISA, this position will provide financial, administrative, and program support to ISA. Duties include assisting with business and personnel processes including purchasing, accounts payable, travel, grant management, and budget monitoring/reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least two years in accounting or related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with account reconciliation processes.
- Good written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to handle multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with financial processes and recordkeeping.
- Experience working with financial systems and related software platforms.
- Previous experience in a non-profit setting.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary for building professional relationships and providing customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience being responsible for multiple tasks at the same time.
This is an annually renewable, full-time (35 hours a week) position. The University offers a competitive salary, outstanding benefits including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment. Salary will be commensurate with background and experience.
