Position Description: The Division of Health Education at Texas A&M University (TAMU) seeks to hire two Visiting Academic Professional Track (APT), Clinical Assistant Professors. We will secure scholars who are well versed in the health education and promotion profession, with teaching and research experience to advance the Division’s strong and expanding undergraduate and graduate programs. Responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate instruction, engagement in interdisciplinary collaborations and service, and undergraduate and graduate student mentorship in research and practice.
Successful applicants will hold a doctoral degree in Health Education or closely related discipline with relevance to the teaching and research mission of the Division of Health Education (https://hlkn.tamu.edu/divisions/division-health-education/), be eligible for CHES® or MCHES® credential, show a strong commitment to dynamic teaching in both face-to-face and online platforms, and have an emerging research agenda. Expertise areas could include health inequities, social determinants of health, ecological approaches in health, and implementation/prevention science.
Salary, benefits, and compensation packages are competitive. This is a two-year appointment (summer terms excluded) with an anticipated start date of August 15, 2022.
About the Health Division: The Division of Health Education, housed within the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M, aims to professionally train and equip students to engage in practice, research, and service that facilitates improved human health and quality of life. Our division currently serves approximately 1,000 undergraduate student majors across three program tracks (Allied Health, Community Health, and School Health), as well as approximately 50 graduate students across three programs (MS in Health Education, Online MS in Health Education, and PhD in Health Education). We have 20 faculty members who engage in teaching, research, and service on health topics such as sexuality, substance use, interpersonal violence, social determinants of health, environmental health, chronic diseases, and physical activity, as well as in settings such as communities, schools, worksites, and hospitals/clinics.
