The Assistant Teacher will fulfill the role of the classroom teacher in his/her absence. Candidates must show evidence of the following abilities: understanding and respect for children, their developmental needs and interests; respect for a child’s family and culture; understanding of current health and safety practices in NYS licensed child care centers; and commitment of continued professional development in all aspects of the field of early childhood education.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree is required for application to this position. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or in pursuit of Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. The candidate shall possess prior experience working with young children in an early childhood educational setting. Candidates with prior experience working with infants, toddlers and preschool age children in a full day early education childcare setting are preferred.

Knowledge of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation standards and New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYSOCFS) regulations preferred.
