Job Description:


  • Responsible for the academic and administrative leadership for the School of Education. Oversees and ensures continuation of national and state accreditations for programs within the School of Education.

  • Recruit, lead, manage, evaluate, and develop the leadership team for the School of Education.

  • Build community, trust, cohesiveness, and a shared strategic vision among faculty and staff. Oversee communication with students, faculty, and staff.

  • Directs assessment and serves as the liaison to external accrediting agencies (e.g., NECHE and MA DESE) including overseeing unit data collection and analyses and ensuring program data are used to guide program renewal.

  • Leads the School of Education in the development and implementation of its vision and strategic framework. Demonstrating commitment to the academic and educational goals of the College and School of Education.

  • Develops and oversees training, support and development for the Supervising Practitioners and Program Supervisors.

  • Manage the School of Education budget.

  • Ensures that students receive effective advising throughout the program through the development and implementation of structures and processes.

  • Manage relationships with other parts of campus, including participating in the academic leadership team with other deans and administrators.

  • Demonstrate interest and ability in collaborating with local and state educational leaders in partnerships for engaged learning.

  • Other duties and responsibility/projects as assigned by senior leadership.



Requirements:


  • Required Degree(s): Terminal Degree (Ed.D or Ph.D.) in a area of specialization within the School of Education.

  • Required Field of Expertise: A record of successful administrative leadership in higher education with evidence of a commitment to advancing the quality of instruction is required.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Be able to communicate with staff at all levels of the organization as well as people from external agencies. Ability to motivate others to achieve common goals in a collaborative team environment.

  • Proficient computer or have the ability to become proficient skills in Microsoft packages, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.), Webex, Blackboard, Meeting Software

  • Candidates will have demonstrated expertise in state and national accreditation for education programs, preferably with MA DESE.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in leading successful assessment planning is required.

  • Well-developed collaborative, organizational, management, and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Strategic planning, program proposals and curriculum development.

  • Candidates will have research skills for conducting program evaluation studies, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Schedule


This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt-level, benefits eligible position. Normal office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., flexible to the needs of the department, and requires occasional evening and weekend work.
