The Mathematics, Sciences, Technologies, and Business Division (MSTB) at NOVA have a need for a part-time instructor to teach General Biology and Anatomy & Physiology. Please make your choice of campus at the supplemental questions.

The primary responsibility of a faculty member in the Virginia Community College System shall be to provide quality instruction for the students. The major emphasis shall be on good teaching by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities—to help the student develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity to become a better person, a better worker, and a better citizen. Teach courses in any of the Biological Sciences.

As a part of this primary responsibility, the College expects each faculty member to: meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; conduct requisite student conferences; hold required office hours; attend to assigned divisional and College duties; contribute to the development of the program of instruction; adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintain current competence in the required disciplines and field of specialization and academically advise students.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Adept knowledge of instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Ability to work with a diverse student population. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.



Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in any of the Biological Sciences or Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in Biology.
