Job Description:
The Campus and Community Relations Coordinator (CCRC) assists the Campus Provost in building and promoting positive relationships among the campus, its internal constituency groups, and stakeholders in the campus service area. The CCRC works closely with the College Marketing Department and the College Governmental Affairs Office to ensure that campus outreach and messaging efforts are coordinated with collegewide planning. Following the college marketing plan, the CCRC will coordinate and implement strategies to engage the local community with the campus and expand the NOVA brand by building awareness of NOVA activities, events, programs, and services. The CCRC assists the Provost and other campus stakeholders to promote visibility and a positive image of the campus to the community in accordance with campus and college public relations goals. The CCRC also works with the Governmental Affairs office to coordinate communication and events with local officials connected with the respected campus. This position requires planning, coordinating, and implementing activities that build positive relationships internal and external to the college. The CCRC keeps the campus and college informed of community events and activities. The position also assists with planning community outreach events on and off campus.

Description of Duties and Tasks:The Campus and Community Relations Coordinator (CCRC) plays a lead role for internal and external campus and community communication, event planning, and community relations. The CCRC works with the Provost, campus, college, and community stakeholders and coordinates with the collegewide marketing and communications team to promote visibility and a positive image of the campus in the community. The CCRC will also assist with building a sense of community at the campus. Other duties and tasks include: •Collaborates with college and campus stakeholders to develop campus enrollment and retention marketing strategies. •Develops and distributes internal communications in partnership with college communications. •Provides leadership for campus-based marketing, event planning, and public information. •Builds positive relationships between the campus and its surrounding community in accordance with campus, college public relations, and college governmental affairs goals. •Works collaboratively with the appropriate college units to develop marketing, communications, and strategic outreach plans. •Supervises part-time staff as assigned.•Oversees quality of campus communications.•Supervises marketing messages for internal television monitors and external electronic signs, and social media.•Conducts outreach campaigns to adult populations in the campus service area as assigned.•Works with the appropriate college units to develop external communications. •Serves as the communication coordinator for the campus in the event of an emergency.•Completes special projects assigned by the campus Provost.•Coordinates with College Governmental Relations department on communication with public officials.
Collaboratively plans initiatives to increase enrollment and retention, as well as the image and reputation of the campus and college.

Special Assignments:

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications:

Required KSAs: •Creative self-starter with a demonstrated record of event planning and promoting the image of a company or institution. •A high degree of professionalism and the ability to work successfully with the Provost, the campus community, Marketing/Communications, Office of Governmental Relations, and diverse external constituencies. •Superior verbal and written communication skills. •Outstanding interpersonal skills. •Proficient computer skills, with emphasis on electronic communication skills in a web-based environment.•Knowledge of social networking and other cutting-edge communication tools. •Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects. •Knowledge of the Northern Virginia and the campus service region. •Must be proficient at working in a team environment.•Ability to work with computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.•Ability to learn technology and computer systems. •Excellent organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.•Ability to work collaborative within a large complex educational organization and develop sustainable ties with a diverse community.

Minimum Qualifications•Bachelor’s degree in business, management, marketing, public relations, communications, education or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. •Experience in writing informational/marketing materials and event planning. •Proven experience in writing and presenting proposals, successfully planning events, and in maintaining the sustained support of diverse customers and/or service communities•Several years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, event planning, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Desired Qualifications-Master’s degree in business, management, marketing, public relations, communications, education, or related field. •Higher education experience, including knowledge and/or direct experience with community colleges. -Previous experience supporting local service area business, educational, press, and governmental entities. •Event planning, sales and direct marketing experience tied to specific plans and achieved metrics. •Experience in writing proposals, winning support for them and successfully managing their execution. •Several years experience in promoting educational programs and/or expanding community engagement and partnerships that bolster social equity in the region.
