POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Financial Aid Systems Analyst position. We are seeking candidates who can contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 150 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid & Scholarships, University Registrar, Enrollment Management Communications, Enrollment Management Research & Analytics and Enrollment Management Operations.

Functions and Responsibilities:

Works in conjunction with the Associate Director in the development, testing, programming, modification, maintenance, and compliance of financial aid systems, including Ellucian Banner, OnBase imaging system, Dynamic Forms, JobX/TimesheetX, Scholarship Manager, and other third-party software utilized by the office. Independently responsible for writing algorithms and encoding scholarship awarding criteria via complex combinations of requirements and sub-requirements for each scholarship cohort. Writes technical program statements (SQL) in order to collate data from multiple third-party software programs and provide statistical analysis to EM leadership in partnership with the Office of Research and Analytics to aid in recruitment, retention, and graduation strategies. Serves as liaison to Enrollment Management technical team and other campus partners as needed to ensure proper performance of systems’ programs and interfaces. Leads system implementations, testing, programming, upgrades, and projects, and assists with user access to databases. Evaluates and improves user interfaces, analyzes and resolves technical and end user issues, participates in planning groups and training sessions regarding the upgrade and implementation of various financial aid-related systems.
 

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination.

Extensive experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

Experience with understanding and organizing data.

Experience with documenting processes and procedures.

Experience developing solutions and efficiencies in processes.
 

Preferred Education and Experience:

Computer programming and/or PL/SQL or other procedural language experience preferred.

Experience with higher education policies and procedures preferred.

Familiarity with the curricular approval process preferred.

Familiarity with student information systems preferred.

Advanced level of Excel knowledge.

Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing financial aid programs is beneficial.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience in ODS Oracle, Excel, PL/SQL, Web Tailor and Argos is beneficial, as is experience in working in financial aid software such as SAIG, Great Lakes, File Transfer Programs (FTP), COD, CPS and NSLDS.

Knowledge, experience, or training in federal financial aid regulations is beneficial.

Knowledge of complex relational database organization. 

Ability to query data from databases.
