Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

Under general supervision coordinates all aspects of sports films generated by the Texas Southern University Athletics department.

Essential Duties Summary:

  • Films or video tapes football and basketball practices. Makes copies of practices for coaches use; beginning with two-a-days through end of season, including spring practices.
  • Films or video tapes all home and out of town games. Insures proper packing, transport and set-up of video equipment for all games.
  • Edits game film for the use of coaches (breakdown) and coordinates all trade tapes with other sports.
  • Produces, directs, films, and edits all sports highlights and recruiting tapes.
  • Produces the Sports Talk television show which may include the Athletic Director or Head Coach of a particular sport.
  • Sets up video for recruiting weekends and coordinates the transfer of video tapes and cut-ups of football players, and other sports as needed.
  • Coordinates the distribution of videos and/or footage to be sent to professional football scouts, and other professional sports scouts.
  • Supervises student assistants in the coordination of all other sports video needs.
  • Coordinates video needs for Department of Athletics special events.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range:

$38,022.00 - $45,626.00

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) appropriate experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Specialized practices, equipment and procedures.
  • Must abide by and comply in all respects with the constitution, bylaws, rules, regulations, advisory opinions, and interpretations, as amended (collectively “Rules and Regulations”) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”) and the Rules and Regulations of the SWAC relating to the conduct and administration of University’s Intercollegiate Athletics Department.
  • In the event employee becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe, that a violation of NCAA or Conference Rules and Regulation or University policies and procedures may have taken place, shall promptly report such violations or suspected violations to the Athletic Director.

Work Experience:

More than three (3) year to five (5) years of related experience.

Working/Environmental Conditions:

  • Working conditions involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and require following basic safety precautions.
  • Physical demands include moderate physical activity that includes prolonged standing and/or walking, handling moderate weight objects and/or using or carrying equipment.
  • Work may require routine travel.
