The Department of Communication, Journalism and Media at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor for our master’s program for the Fall beginning October 27, 2021. This position is to teach COMM 564 – Communication & Diversity in Workplace, a graduate-level course in our Master of Arts in Business Communication program.

This course helps organizational leaders understand how gender, ethnic, religious, and other social and cultural differences affect the workplace, and how to effectively harness those differences towards maintaining a workplace that promotes good employee relationships, and ultimately, good productivity for the organization. Specifically, the course will:1. Analyze relevant academic theories that apply to workplace diversity2. Through the use of relevant case studies examine communication practices that successfully promote inclusion and/or learn from communication failures3. Learn relevant theories associated with interpersonal communication, global leadership, multicultural communication and inclusion/exclusion. The course is an online class that runs from 10/27-12/17.

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Communication, Business or a related field
  • Experience teaching online courses

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Professional experience with an organization’s DEI efforts
