Job Summary:

The Coordinator for Web Initiatives, under general supervision, is responsible for coordinating the institution's web presence. Serves as the point of contact for design and strategic planning, site content monitoring, content and resource acquisition and related projects.


Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with university stakeholders, vendors and consultants, coordinate and implement overall strategies relating to site layout, content priorities and site usability consistent with university branding and marketing.
  • Create and enhance site design, layout, content, navigation and overall functionality.
  • Consult, coordinate with and mentor content editors as part of a content management system. Develop appropriate documentation, training sessions, and propose standards for input and editing of content.
  • Develop and implement content management systems, search engine optimization, online multimedia and assist with social media integration.
  • Implement web strategies with a focus on accessibility in compliance with web accessibility standards such as WCAG.
  • Manage site reporting activity, recommend improvements and anticipate future needs and changes, and keep up to date on evolving industry standards.
  • Consult with university departments and student organizations to gather content materials used to create and maintain the university website, extension websites, and other digital media.   • Perform other duties as assigned, such as serving on governance committees, representing the institution at professional conferences, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years professional experience and/or web site development and web marketing experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, decision making and project management skills. Working knowledge of graphic design, HTML, Flash, CSS, CMS methodologies and products, Word Press, and portal technologies.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Registration, certification, or licensure

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Web Master Tools.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems such as Cascade.
  • Knowledge of common web scripting languages and databases.
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards, to include WCAG.
  • Strong verbal communication, written communication, and design process skills.
