Overview
The Senior Manager for Security Operations reports to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and is responsible for managing the staff and services of the Security Operations (“SecOps”) team in the larger Information Security Office (ISO). In this role, you will lead two security engineering managers who manage a staff of three analysts and oversee efforts that promote continuous improvement in the areas of security operations and threat and vulnerability services. You will also work collaboratively on security engineering, process, and integration with security colleagues in the ISO, as well as with other highly technical colleagues in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) organization. As a member of the ISO leadership, you will contribute to strategic planning and serve as the subject matter expert for security engineering, techniques, and response. As a member of the ISO, you will help reduce risk to Princeton through a combination of strong technical capabilities, strategic thinking, leading effectively, and excellent documentation and communication skills. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues OIT and with technical staff in University departments. The individual in this position works both on teams and independently, requiring only general supervision.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, assess, and mentor the SecOps staff in monitoring, response, and continuous improvement; provide program oversight for vulnerability management and security monitoring; and work with OIT and campus department IT staffEnsure the work of the security operations team is allocated and duties are being fulfilled Improve the skills and processes of the SecOps team Identify and prioritize current and emerging workload Provide vision and expertise in the various ISO solutionsRepresent the ISO and information security interests on assigned working groups, task forces, and technology projectsContinually assess the vendor space, global environment and campus for cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and necessary actions for risk reductionProvide oversight and have responsibilities for SecOps metrics and reportingManage OIT PCI requirementsProvide necessary forensic expertise for security incidents and legal requestsLead efforts, delivery, packaging, and solutions for e-discovery Provide expertise and actions for all forensics investigations Continuous education, knowledge acquisition and certification expansion in the area of information securityParticipate in training and awareness efforts of the ISO
Qualifications
- More than seven years of experience in information security
- A broad knowledge of security best practices, and a deep skill set in monitoring, logging, advanced threat analysis, and response technologies
- Experience with vulnerability management, solutions, assessment, and response
- A desire to teach, mentor, and improve cybersecurity processes and operations
- Strong network knowledge and experience
- Strong management skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong communications skills
- Innate curiosity, and determined response to anomalies
- Ability to work in a team setting, as well as independently
- Experience in security operations
- Security certifications
- Experience with SIEM technologies (especially Log Rhythm) and scanning tools
