Compensation: Compensation based on education and existing rates for similar positions within Baker College Professional Services, Inc.

Reports To: Program Director
Work Schedule: Standard-Academic Contract, evening and weekend hours will be required

Baker College Professional Services, Inc. seeks to hire an individual to be assigned to the position of FACULTY - NURSING (SPECIALTY COORDINATOR - MEDICAL/SURGICAL)(FULL-TIME) for the benefit of and to be located at Baker College of Owosso.

General Statement of Duties:The Nursing Specialty Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of a core nursing content area and the associated clinical practicum experience associated with that course. This coordinator will focus on promoting achievement of student learning outcomes for the assigned course and will also work closely with adjunct clinical faculty in regards to their orientation and preparation for the clinical experience. This coordinator will also be responsible for evaluation of all clinical adjunct faculty assigned to that course and for recruitment and hiring of clinical faculty for the assigned specialty course.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
    Master of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university requiredCurrent Michigan Registered Nurse LicenseMinimum of two years’ experience in the specialty core course areaAbility to perform and evaluate a complete physical assessmentAbility to evaluate Nursing students performing a complete physical assessment in the assigned specialty areaAbility to supervise Nursing students performing comprehensive nursing care in the assigned specialty core areaMust be knowledgeable in Canvas, Nursing specific software, and online supporting textbook resources such as Evolve/Elsevier resourcesMust be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and Google AppsMust have effective verbal and written communications skillsAbility to lift and maneuver independently up to 25 lbs
Duties and Responsibilites:
    Provides leadership and lead instruction for assigned specialty course(s) and other supplemental courses as neededAssigns and schedules students for course work in these areasProvides laboratory and clinical instruction in core specialty areas and other areas as neededAssists the Director with curriculum planning, textbook recommendations, ongoing assessment and evaluation, and revisions for the assigned core specialty coursesAssists with hiring adjunct clinical faculty for core specialty areasProvides orientation and mentoring of clinical faculty in core specialty coursesRegularly meets with and evaluates bi-annually adjunct clinical instructors in core specialty coursesAdvises and counsels pre-nursing and nursing students privately as well as during orientation and registration sessionsAssists with student tutoring when indicatedAssists in administration and proctoring of standardized admission testing for nursing applicants and for core specialty coursesParticipates in department, division, and program meetingsParticipates in professional development and/or clinical experience (real world work) to maintain current knowledge in nursing and educational methodologiesMaintains standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional nursing faculty positionOther projects mutually agreed upon with his/her Dean and/or Director of NursingOther duties as assigned
