Description:

The Department of Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology (BCMB) at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of plant biology. Applications for Assistant, Associate or Full Professor will be considered. We are particularly interested in a colleague who uses experimental approaches to address fundamental questions about plants or other photosynthetic organisms from the molecular to the organismal level.

The successful candidate should address questions that complement existing strengths in the department. Plant science in the Knoxville area is represented by over 60 research groups including in the UT Institute of Agriculture and the nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory. These groups are tied together by the Tennessee Plant Research Center. Together, the UT and ORNL campuses harbor a unique combination of resources in supercomputing, neutron science (Spallation Neutron Source), and mathematical biology (National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis).

For consideration beyond the Assistant Professor level, candidates should demonstrate a solid track record of external research funding as well as national and international recognition in their field. We are seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. We strongly encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups.
