Senior Associate Director of Admissions Systems and Technology

Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for an Associate Director of the team that supports the technology and software used by the Admissions Office.

Situated on a quiet, tree-lined campus 15 miles from New York City, Sarah Lawrence College is a creative center in higher education—a liberal arts college that challenges every student to embrace creative perspectives in every academic discipline. The successful candidate will bring something of that mission to this position: to treat the systems and technologies of the admissions office not simply as a static task to be done, but as opportunities to learn, experiment, test, and grow. Sarah Lawrence College actively participates in a national community of institutions who use the same software (Slate, by Technolutions), so there are many opportunities to engage with the practices of other schools as well. The ideal candidate will be motivated and excited by the possibility of becoming an expert and exemplar for other offices around the country.

This position involves working in a SQL-based database that also serves as the document imager for reading undergraduate applications. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with attention to complex detail in a large relational database necessary to be successful. Other preferred requirements include:
  • Familiarity/experience with the field of selective college admissions and with strong programs in the liberal arts in particular
  • Significant experience with intermediate-to-advanced functionality of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Access)
  • Experience with relational SQL databases; experience with Slate (by Technolutions) strongly preferred
  • Experience using content management systems for public websites
  • Proficiency in CSS, HTML, Javascript preferred
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends during peak times of the year
  • This position may be eligible for partial remote work throughout the year, but the individual should be (or plan to be) a resident of the metro NYC area to work on campus when needed

Requirements for the position include:
  • A bachelor's degree
  • A valid driver's license
  • Strong communication (written and oral) skills
