Job Description:

The Department of Psychology is seeking a Lab Technician/Bio Scientist for Dr. Darlene Kertes' research team.

There are two main areas of research in the lab; candidates with skills that are applicable to either or both of the areas listed in #1 and #2 are encouraged to apply.

  • ELISA assays: used to assay several analytes from multiple tissue sources
  • Genomic/epigenomic assays: includes DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR quantification, MMqPCR, bisulfite conversion and sequencing
  • Basic familiarity with principles of LC/MS analysis is beneficial but not required.
  • Good candidates would also be comfortable designing and troubleshooting research experiments, have excellent record-keeping skills, communicate effectively with other researchers, and be able to maintain a safe and orderly lab environment. Experience in bioinformatics is a plus but not required.

    This position would be well-suited for an individual with sufficient experience and the motivation to work independently. In addition to technical work, this research team member will have opportunities to be involved in study design, data analysis, and publication of empirical manuscripts as desired.

    Expected Salary:

    The salary range is $17.00 - $27.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Master’s or higher degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related field preferred.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Solid knowledge base in chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology.

    Technical precision and attention to detail in executing laboratory assays.

    Experience with and/or willingness to learn techniques as indicated in Job Description.
