Georgetown's Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (GSAS) is bringing 200 years in education and formation to building programs that respond to the needs of our changing world. The Communications and Marketing Manager is a strategic partner contributing to the communications strategies in support of the Graduate School's goals and objectives to generate increased visibility and awareness of the Graduate School's academic excellence and the specific contributions of many individuals in the Graduate community. They develop and execute the overall GSAS communications planning and strategy; manage the overall Graduate School content/editorial calendar, aggregating work from different departments and amplifying across social media and web platforms; chair the graduate school social media group, working together to determine promotional and editorial content sharing; and draft, edit and send emails to graduate school cohorts in coordination with other communications leads across the University and Graduate School. Reporting to the Dean of the Graduate School, the Communications and Marketing Manager serves primarily the central dean's office, with some general support allocated to communications efforts related to a suite of interdisciplinary programs. Duties include but are not limited to:

Strategic Planning
  • Coordinate strategies with Graduate School and program leadership
  • Work with the Graduate School social media group
  • Develop, communicate, and manage annual content calendars
  • Assist program directors in thinking through strategic communications tactics that support their enrollment and retention efforts
  • Partner with Dean's Office teams to develop strategic communications plans
  • Assist partners in increasing their impact through creative messaging and distribution through new outlets


Collaborative Content Development and Distribution
  • Meet regularly with Dean's Office teams and programs to assist in the creative development of special stories
  • Provide guidance to internal programs on effective communications efforts that increase program visibility and messaging impact
  • Collaborate with various university offices to widely publish and distribute stories
  • Manage in-house online publication of stories and information through various outlets, including website, blogs, social media, and other creative outlets


Communications and Messaging
  • Draft, edit, and distribute official decanal communication through the central dean's account
  • Manage and distribute inquiries related to official communications
  • Partner with other university offices to distribute mass communications to appropriate audiences as directed by the Dean


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related fields
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant communications experience
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Excellent written skills, including email or marketing correspondences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across organizational units to ensure consistency in communications
  • Experience working with social media platforms
  • Familiarity with desktop publishing and web development software (Adobe products, Microsoft Publisher, WordPress, etc.)
  • Exceptional judgment in messaging and communication tactics
