Lab Technician III, MACS/WIHS Combined Cohort Study (MWCCS) - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Lab Technician III coordinates operational activities in a research laboratory, providing support services to the Laboratory Manager and study researchers. Carefully follows instruction and study protocols; implements policies, procedures, and standards for lab operations to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality control of the laboratory; and conforms with University Environmental Health and Safety and lab-specific safety protocols.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, and working closely with the Study Co-Investigators and the Lab Manager, the Lab Technician III has duties that include but are not limited to:

Lab Operations
  • Maintain study documentation of sample processing and all laboratory logs
  • Enter samples into LDMS
  • Assist with Basic QC and laboratory equipment functionality
  • Set up, operate and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Maintain clean and safe environment

Laboratory Administration
  • Attend laboratory meetings
  • Assist Lab Manager with lab safety compliance
  • Prepare common Lab reagents
  • Collect and prepare samples
  • Schedule sample processing

General Administration
  • Perform data filing
  • Coordinate the ordering, delivery, inventory, storage, and maintenance of supplies, lab ware, and instruments essential to lab operations

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 5 years of technical/administrative experience in laboratory operations
  • Experience coordinating research or lab activities.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills (both verbal & written)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Organized and efficient
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
