Description:

The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of medical care for a diverse patient population with a broad range of advanced pulmonary diseases in outpatient clinics and on inpatient consultation services, as well as the medical intensive care unit. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Applicants should be board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Pulmonary disease.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, medical residents, fellows and advanced practitioners within the Health System and the VA Medical Center. Selected canidates are expected to participate as an active member of Penn Graduate Programs based on his/her research focus. Preferred candidates should have an interest and experience in education and systems improvement initiatives.

Clinical responsibilities may include proficiency in treating critically ill patients in the ICU unit, rounding on inpatient services for advanced lung disease and participating in a busy outpatient clinical practice at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as well as Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing a clinical and/or translational research program.

Candidates should have a productive track record during post-doctoral research training and an ability to perform collaborative, interdisciplinary and patient-oriented outcomes of health services research.
