CDI Administrative Assistant (PT-19 Hrs.)

Job Description:

The Child Development Institute (CDI) was established in 1987 by a small group of faculty to promote a developmentally informed view of children, childhood, and education and to serve as a resource for the campus and beyond. Today, CDI consists of four faculty members, a Director, a half-time administrative assistant, and the Chair of CDI’s Professional Advisory Board. CDI carries out its mission through programs for the general public, professional development programs, outreach initiatives and community collaborations, research, and advocacy. CDI works closely with the Early Childhood Center, Child Development and Art of Teaching graduate programs, psychology faculty, and Office of Community Partnerships.

Through Community Adventure Play Experiences (CAPEs), the Child Development Institute provides trained facilitators and loose parts – materials such as cardboard boxes, wood, tires, fabric, paint, and other recycled materials collected from the community for play experiences. CAPEs can take place outdoors in grassy parks or a parking lot or indoors in classrooms or large open community spaces.

Essential Duties Summary:

Administrative Assistant will be responsible for:· Providing assistance with implementation of all CDI activities (conferences, lectures, programs and workshops, outreach initiatives, and research) · Managing CDI database and mailings (Excel and MailChimp)· Managing registration for CDI programs (Eventbrite)· Organizing and implementing promotion of CDI activities and events (Canva)· Managing CDI Facebook page and Instagram accoiunt· Keeping organized records of pertinent information from CDI programs (number of participants, participant information, fees charged, stipends to presenters, etc.)· Literature review searches for advocacy documents· Other projects as needed· Flexible working schedule with some evening/weekend hours· Assist CAPE Coordinator with planning and logistics of all CAPEs and CAPE Trainings, which includes:o Scheduling all CAPEs and CAPE trainings according to set protocols o Coordinating travel to and from CAPEso Collection and maintenance of CAPE materialso Recruitment, training and management of volunteer CAPE facilitatorso Coordinate and manage outreach and promotion of CAPEso Managing CAPE/Volunteer database (Excel)o Manage CAPE photo database

Required Qualifications:

Requirements:· Office administration experience· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)· Proficiency managing social media· Excellent oral and written communication skills· Reliable· Strong organization skills and detail oriented· Enjoyment and competency working collaboratively· Works well independently· Experience doing community outreach· Experience working with children and volunteers
