Description:

The University of Florida, Department of Community Health and Family Medicine is seeking two Full Time (1.00 FTE) Assistant/Associate/or Full Professors at Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast (SHHEC), at the Destin Florida location. The anticipated effective start date for the program is 7/1/23. The expected start date for the Family Medicine Physicians would be as soon as possible. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications. This is a non-tenure accruing position. This is a Full-time position, however, part-time will be considered depending upon the needs of the clinic and applicant.

Job Description:

As a Full Time, Hospitalist (1.00 FTE) Assistant/Associate/or Full Professor in the Department of

Community Health and Family Medicine at SHHEC, the incumbent will ensure family medicine

residents receive a high-quality education that meets or exceeds Accreditation Council for

Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards, provide excellent clinical care for adult

patients in the inpatient setting and demonstrate professionalism consistent with the mission

and vision of the Program at Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast.

Job Description:

As a Full Time, Hospitalist (1.00 FTE) Assistant/Associate/or Full Professor in the Department of

Community Health and Family Medicine at SHHEC, the incumbent will ensure family medicine

residents receive a high-quality education that meets or exceeds Accreditation Council for

Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards, provide excellent clinical care for adult

patients in the inpatient setting and demonstrate professionalism consistent with the mission

and vision of the Program at Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast.

 

Duties and Responsibilities for the Residency Program:

• Demonstrate dedication to Family Medicine education

• Promote and demonstrate competency in clinical research, quality improvement,

curriculum development, and patient safety

• Commit to academic development through the pursuit of scholarly activities that result

in presentations during national meetings and/or peer-reviewed publications

• Commit to academic development through the completion of faculty development

activities

• Develop curriculum, plan clinical experiences, and create evaluation tools to prepare for

the opening of the residency program

 

General Responsibilities as a Physician:

• Provide evidence-based inpatient adult medicine care consistent with current standards

of care

• Communicate effectively with patients, family members, other healthcare professionals,

and institutional/community leaders

• Demonstrate empathy and compassion to patients and family members

• Assess social determinants of health, identify healthcare disparities, and utilize local

resources to improve outcomes

• Identify and report patient safety events

• Complete required documentation in a timely manner

• Lead quality improvement projects


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• M.D. or D.O. degree or equivalent

• Completion of an approved residency program

• Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine

• Eligibility for Florida medical licensure

• Clinical expertise in inpatient adult medicine and a commitment to teaching

• Must be able to obtain medical staff credentialing with inpatient privileges at SacredHeart Hospital Emerald Coast
