SUMMARY:

Reporting the Director, the Program Coordinator coordinates the operation and modifications of multiple programs housed in the Center for Continuing and Online Education (CCOE); recruits, contracts, trains, supervises, and evaluates instructors of related CCOE programs; schedules all Professional Studies (PST) courses and programs; coordinates summer programs; coordinates customized training; coordinates fiscal management and accounting procedures for each program; provides academic advising to adult learners admitted into the Online Degree Completion Program; works closely with CCOE leadership and stakeholders to ensure integration and consistency of CCOE learning opportunities; supervises program assistants; and seeks and establishes revenue-based learning activities on a regular basis.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinates multiple Center for Continuing and Online Education (CCOE) professional studies courses and programs.
  • Assists with the development of and oversees implementation, coordination, and evaluation of professional studies customized training, courses, and programs that address niche markets.
  • Recruits, contracts, trains, supervises, and evaluates PST instructors for professional studies customized training, courses, and programs; and serves as point of contact for professional studies customized contracts, courses, and programs.
  • Communicates to campus departments successful course offerings that may be of interest to adult learners; solicits new courses from departments; ensures proper course cross-listing and offering; works with instructors and their department (where applicable) to improve course and program content and delivery using information from course evaluations and best practices in adult learning.
  • Works with designated marketing and communication personnel to market CCOE programs and products; and provides necessary information to support marketing and communication (including prerequisites, costs, and instructor biographies).
  • Schedules Professional Studies courses and programs; manages logistics for Professional Studies courses and programs; monitors enrollments, course budgets, and makes go - no go decisions for fall, spring and summer; reviews evaluations for all professional studies courses and shares summaries with responsible faculty and departments; and maintains relevant records of professional studies courses and programs.
  • Coordinates undergraduate and graduate courses for summer sessions; monitors enrollment; ensures courses generate revenue; negotiates instructor pay when necessary; drafts summer teaching contracts; communicates to departments, the Office of the Registrar, and administrators suggestions, issues, troubleshooting strategies, and forecasts with regard to summer programs; and tracks and reviews documents supporting faculty eligibility to teach including Requests for Compensation, A1 Requests for Appointment, Recommendations for Graduate Faculty Status, and Gallaudet Online Teaching Certificates.
  • Works with adjuncts and on campus faculty/staff to ensure that they receive onboarding information, enroll in and complete requisite trainings; and ensures bilingual strategies are incorporated.
  • Maintains a cadre of qualified instructors, curriculum and program developers, and others who are essential to the operations of PST courses and programs.
  • Coordinates program services for adult learners admitted into the Online Degree Completion Program; and advises adult learners admitted into the Online Degree Completion Program.
  • Maintains and modifies related internet platforms and applications and related instructional and public relations materials for the Online Degree Completion Program.
  • Supervises program assistants.
  • Assists CCOE leadership with developing and implementing a vision of CCOE derived from the vision and mission of the University as a whole; assists CCOE leadership designing and conducting market analysis; and serves as a liaison and collaborator between CCOE and internal and external constituencies involved with CCOE activities.
  • Prepares written reports of budget, enrollment, and CCOE program activities; maintains financial records and course and program statistics.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisor.
  • Shows a genuine commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace; and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.
  • Serves as a mandatory Title IX reporter; and takes annual Title IX training as part of the compliance effort.
  • Serves as an active, contributing member of Gallaudet University.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • SPECIFICATIONS:

    Required Minimum Qualifications (When the candidate’s resume meets these qualifications, it will be screened in):

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • A minimum three years of professional experience in coordinating programs.
    • Fluency in written English and American Sign Language.

    Preferred Qualifications (While not required, it is an advantage for what the position needs.)

    • Master’s degree.
    • Experience working with constituencies to coordinate learning opportunities.
