Application Information SUMMARY:

Directs, expands and promotes usages of Gallaudet facilities to outside groups to generate income for the University; promotes and expands internal campus events to support student experience; identifies potential customers and actively solicits outside groups for facilities usage; serves as the single point of contact for internal and external groups and works with campus constituency to coordinate facility usage and required campus services including Academic Affairs, Resident Life, Food Service, Custodial Services, Grounds and Facility Maintenance, Athletics Department, Department of Continuing Students, Registrar, Clerc Center, and the Conference Center; works within the deaf ecosystem to promote deaf organizations and businesses to provide exposure and collaboration for University programs; establishes revenue and profit goals and determines appropriate cost structure to ensure usage generates a profit; reviews customer contracts and works with Supervisor and Risk Management to ensure compliance with any Federal, District, or Gallaudet Policy and to ameliorate potential risks and liability; and works with Public Relations or other organizations to develop effective marketing materials.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Supervises professional staff; provides on-going feedback to all employees; completes the annual performance evaluations for each regular status and extended temporary staff; set goals and expectations for each staff; resolves workplace conflicts in a timely manner and seeks support from supervisor, Human Resources, Office of Equal Opportunity Program, or Office of the Ombuds if needed; promotes a safe and healthy work environment; ensures professional development opportunities are provided to each regular status and extended temporary staff; and meets regularly with staff through department-wide and individual supervision meetings.Identifies and solicits potential clients for use of facilities; and researches and understands the college market for program cost structures at colleges and universities in comparable markets including the quality and cost of amenities (dorm space, food service, athletic facilities , etc.) needed to attract customers.Develops cost and revenue projections for campus business; ensures budget preparation and control; documents and monitors revenue and expenses; and establishes profit goals and works with campus constituencies to ensure profit goals are met within a competitive market.Serves as the single point of contact for outside groups; schedules and coordinates services with various Gallaudet constituencies including Resident Life, food service, summer programs, Academic Affairs, etc.; ensures the smooth coordination of client services; and ensures that contracted costs for use of University departments are transferred to the appropriate departments account.Recruits events and programs from within the deaf ecosystem to bring deaf businesses and organizations to promote and expand the University’s brand and services to support the student experience; and collaborates with these organizations to provide mentorship and opportunities for students.Prepares marketing materials, catalogs, etc. to promote University services; and develops and implements a targeted, effective and year­ round marketing strategy to promote University facilities.Works closely with the Distribution Center to coordinate the set up and take down of furniture to support events.Works with the Office of General Counsel to identify and address liability issues; and develops effective, written policies and procedures to minimize potential liability.Provides quarterly reports to the Executive Director summarizing quarterly activity including the clients contacted, number and dollar amount of contract signed, projected revenue and expenses for the next quarter and end-of the year projections.Participates in annual or appropriate conferences related to campus business development.

  • SPECIFICATIONS:

    Required Minimum Qualifications (When the candidate’s resume meets these qualifications, it will be screened in):

    • Bachelor's Degree.
    • A minimum of five years of experience with budget management, planning and/or coordinating facility usage for outside groups.
    • Fluency in American Sign Language
    Preferred Qualifications (While not required, it is an advantage for what the position needs):

    • Supervisory and management experience.

    Other Important Information

    • The incumbent must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends as required.
    • All employees are expected to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and will be required to submit their vaccination record prior to entering campus.

    Level: 11
    Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. |
