Job Information Job ID# 230411Position # 20010415 The Department of Music at Augusta University seeks a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Music who specializes in Music Industry and Commercial Music. Appointment to begin in August 2022. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate music industry courses as needed, design and implementation of a new music industry/commercial music bachelor’s degree, curriculum planning, assessment, and new course development. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and connections in global music industries, music administration, entrepreneurship, management, marketing, copyright law and tour promotion. Degrees offered in music are: Bachelor of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Music in Music Education, and Bachelor of Music in Performance, with instrumental, vocal, jazz studies, and keyboard tracks.Minimum Requirements The successful candidate must have:Terminal degree in appropriate field.Past and current research experience and/or teaching experience relating to industry trends, technological advancements, global initiatives relating to digital music, and intellectual property rights.Demonstrated potential to attract and retain quality undergraduate music students.Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness with diverse student populations.Demonstrated scholarship/creative activity appropriate to the discipline at the national/international level that shows promise of continuation.Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications include:Practical experience in commercial music performance.Record of collegiate teaching experience in recording techniques and technology.Proficiency with professional software, sound design and engineering.Experience teaching online at the university level.Potential for securing external funding.Conditions of Employment All candidates are required to successfully pass a background check review.
