The Department of Visual and Performing Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences at Clayton State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in Communication at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2022, with the possibility of commencing in January 2022, depending on applicant pool.
The position is an academic year, tenure-track appointment that reports to the Chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. Salary will be commensurate with experience and competitive with comparable programs.
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts offers undergraduate degrees in Communication and Media Studies, Film Production, Music, and Theatre, and minor programs in Corporate Communication, Communication and Media Studies and Art. Qualified applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, unofficial transcripts of all graduate and undergraduate work, and the contact information for three current references. - An earned doctorate in Communication (ABD considered) or terminal degree in a related field.
- Successful college-level teaching experience at the undergraduate level
- At least 18 graduate hours in Communication Studies
- Ability to teach undergraduate course in public speaking.
Evidence of scholarly potential, including presentations and publicationsSuccessful college-level teaching experience of general education courses in spoken communication
- Ability to teach courses in one or more of the following areas:
- Public relations
- Public speaking
- Written communication / Writing across media
- Media relations
- Media strategy and planning
- International or global communication
