Job Summary Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Network Services Specialist II. Reporting to the Enterprise Director, the incumbent in this position provides support for the network infrastructure in the local area network. This includes but is not limited to, enterprise applications, servers, and networking equipment. The position supports and troubleshoot network problems, voice problems and video surveillance problems.

Responsibilities

On a weekly basis, interacts with vendors, faculty, staff and students to carry out the objectives of the position. Utilizing Helpdesk software and Project Management software this position will:

  • Configure and install Cisco networking equipment
  • Configure and install Cisco VOIP equipment
  • Configure and install Cisco Video Surveillance Systems.
  • Provide technical support for the academic and administrative computing
  • Update networking equipment with the latest security patches
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues
  • Implement and maintain life safety devices (Call boxes, Call towers)
  • Manage and maintain Digital Signage solution for entire campus.
  • Maintain UPS’s, and other network equipment

In addition, the incumbent must stay current with the technological advances in networking that will help to facilitate problem resolution.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or associates degree with 2 years plus of experience
  • A solid understanding of the network infrastructure, hardware, applications and also endpoint management. Critical thinking, analytical skills and troubleshooting capabilities are highly desirable.
