A postdoctoral scholar position is available under the supervision of Dr. Dustin Osborne within the Department of Radiology at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The postdoc scholar will participate in radiopharmaceutical development projects currently funded by Dustin Osborne and focusing on novel tracer development and routine clinical research production.

Duties and responsibilities include design and synthesis of target molecules with minimal supervision and development of novel radiochemical probes; recording, maintaining, and interpreting spectral data (LCMS, NMR, IR etc.); and trouble-shooting chemistry related infrastructure including major analytical equipment. This individual will also have the responsibility of carrying out independent research related to these projects and acquisition of independent extramural funding.


Ph.D. in organic chemistry or radiochemistry.

Departmental preferences

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in organic or radiochemistry. Synthetic organic chemistry experience is highly desired along with the knowledge of related techniques including HPLC, MS, GC, TLC, flash chromatography, NMR, and safe handling of air-sensitive chemicals. Familiarity with PET imaging and radiolabeling.
