Manage all Student Affairs functions for nursing students (25%)
- Manage all student affairs functions for nursing students, including the design, development, implementation and evaluation of New Student Orientation, Family Weekend, undergraduate student activities and regular meetings with and support for key student organizations (SNAP, MNO, APANSA, PUSH, etc.) to understand and address their needs and views.
- Develop effective systems and procedures to leverage resources for optimal results; spot trends and recommends and initiates action plans.
- Cultivate relationships with constituents within the School of Nursing and the greater University (Weingarten Learning Resources Center, Career Services, Pre-freshmen Program, Counseling, Tutoring, Penn Global, Cultural Centers, etc.) to develop relevant support programs, leadership development opportunities, cultural diversity experiences, and community-building activities for undergraduate nursing students.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of the Nursing Graduation Ceremony.
- Oversee key communication functions including: Canvas orientation sites for all students, editing of Graduation program, Academic Progressions letters, etc.
- Meet monthly with all student organizations and organize the semester meetings between the Dean and the student organization leaders.
Manage Academic Affairs functions for Nursing Students (30%)
- Advise nursing students on plans of study; independently develop complex plans of study that incorporate study abroad, minors, and dual degree options; maintain current knowledge of undergraduate curriculum; participate in walk-in advising hours.
- Monitor the retention of nursing Students. Track students’ academic performance and identify and present cases to the Academic Progressions and Standards Committee; write academic progressions letters for the Committee Chair and Associate Dean.
- Update and maintain the students student handbook with website access for students.
- Develop registration materials for nursing students. Upload materials on the School of Nursing website/Canvas site at appropriate registration intervals. Develop and write welcome information for new students.
- Analyze academic issues and determine appropriate follow-up with a variety of constituents, including students, families of students, faculty, staff, and liaisons external to the University; work in collaborates with the Assistant Dean, Associate Dean, and Registrar.
- Work with the Registrar/Associate Registrar to track students through degree requirements.
- Advise Nursing/Wharton Coordinated Dual Degree students and liaison with Faculty Director, Faculty advisors and Wharton Undergraduate Advisors.
Manage cases for nursing students in crisis (10%)

- Collaborate with the Penn Global office, the Penn Nursing Office of Global Health Affairs, and the faculty program directors to develop new study abroad opportunities for Nursing students.
- In conjunction with faculty directors, interview and select students to participate in study abroad programs.
- Coordinate yearly information sessions for the various study abroad programs. Conduct re-entry meetings upon return of students to the School of Nursing.
- Liaison with Student Health to monitor protocols for travel aboard health requirements for students.
- Provide orientation sessions for exchange BSN students coming from various countries to the School of Nursing.
Manage the financial resources for several School of Nursing budgets. (10%)
- Oversee the school budgets for the student organizations. Meet with student organization leaders each semester to discuss budget requests.
- Monitor financial statements each month to ensure budgets are balanced.
- Meet with students to process reimbursements and plan for future needs.
Hire, train, evaluate, and provide supervision to 3-5 work study students. (5%)
- Select, hire, and train work study students each year. Develop schedule of attendance and responsibilities in the office. Ensure students understand the confidentiality of the office environment.
Represent the School of Nursing at school and university meetings. (5%)
- Serve as the representative to: New Student Orientation, Second Year events, Penn Global study abroad, and Nursing/Wharton Coordinated dual degree, etc.
Perform additional duties as assigned (5%)
Bachelors degree required, and minimum of 3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a university setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree (in Higher Education, counseling, student personnel) preferred. Experience in student counseling or academic advising highly desirable. Proven ability to plan, implement, and manage programs and activities. Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects and work in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Must work well with students, faculty, parents, and other constituencies.
