The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine has an opening for a full-time position Professional Research Assistant.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Handles human specimens including blood, urine, and sputum.
  • Master study materials, including but not limited to protocols, workflows, and all other essential study documents for assigned studies
  • Perform study-related processes, procedures, and assays as defined in study protocol and in compliance with regulating bodies
  • Performs assays including PCR, quantitative PCR and DNA sequencing while using standard laboratory equipment.
  • Accurately enters data pertaining to protocols, quality controls, and equipment performance.
  • Participates in troubleshooting for equipment, quality controls, and resulting.
  • Writing and following lab manuals and SOPs
  • Maintain and update inventory and database
  • Other duties assigned by manager
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $35,700 to $55,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (molecular biology related field)
  • Previous laboratory experience working in molecular biology (PCR, DNA sequencing).
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office).
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Conditions of Employment:

Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred qualifications include 1-3 years of direct experience in molecular biology position
  • Experience with DNA sequencing platforms
  • Assay design

  • Communication skills are critical to job performance.
  • Organizational skills are critical to job performance.
  • Must be able to work independently following training.
