SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Admissions – Dallas Fort Worth is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of the University’s recruitment plan for undergraduate student populations. Under general supervision, the Assistant Director of Admissions – Dallas Fort Worth assists in the formulation and implementation of best practices, relationship building, marketing initiatives, and key programming efforts designed to have a positive impact on the enrollment behaviors of undergraduate students. The Assistant Director of Admissions - Dallas Fort Worth supervises Admissions staff located in the Dallas Fort Worth market and collaboratively works to recruit undergraduate students to Texas A&M University-Commerce. The Assistant Director of Admissions - Dallas Fort Worth, represents the university at college fairs and recruitment visits, and provides admission and enrollment services to prospective undergraduate students regarding requirements, academic programs, transferability of courses and degree completion, financial aid, and scholarships. The Assistant Director of Admissions - Dallas Fort Worth works collaboratively with all campus stakeholders involved in the process of recruiting, advising, and enrolling undergraduate students and builds and maintains relationships with schools, Independent School Districts and community stake holders and performs data collection and analysis of key performance metrics.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive transfer recruitment plan, detailing communication and engagement strategies designed to build an undergraduate level pipeline for students to pursue or continue post-secondary study with A&M-Commerce.
  • Plans and leads engagement with various Community Colleges, Independent School Districts (ISD), and high schools for the purpose of sharing awareness of TAMUC academic programs, establishing MOU agreements and other opportunities to specifically promote enrollment and scholarship opportunities.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to the Dallas Fort Worth Admission staff purposed with recruiting a highly qualified and diverse pool of undergraduate students by providing accurate and individualized information about admission and transfer credit, as well as university academic programs, 2+2 transfer pathways, and financial aid.
  • Oversees budgeted expenditures and exercises managerial oversight to ensure the successful implementation of key programs, events, and recruitment initiatives designed to impact enrollment behavior of students enrolling to A&M-Commerce.
  • Utilizes business intelligence dashboards to conduct research and statistical analysis of recruitment data, track enrollment indicators, and create reports to measure outcomes and inform recruitment strategy.
  • Engages with internal and external stakeholders, related organizations, and government agencies that support enrollment initiatives, identifies and builds relationships with community college, ISD and Community Based Organization partners serving students across all recruitment territories identified by the Office of Admissions.
  • Provides creative oversight for best practices in marketing to undergraduate student populations, participates in the development of publications, web pages, and digital communications designed to reach and engage students, and monitors, measures, and performs statistical analysis of data to determine the effectiveness of outreach strategies related to enrollment goals for the Dallas Fort Worth market.
  • Serves as the University’s reverse transfer point of contact by coordinating the process by which A&M-Commerce course credit is transferred back to the community college for awarding of the Associate’s degree and remains current with policies and measures outlined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
  • Communicates competently to all students, school and college counselors/advisors information about the Texas Uniform Core Curriculum and the Texas Common Course Numbering System and their respective roles in articulation and course equivalencies.
  • Demonstrates excellence in customer service through consistent follow-up with prospective students and their families, current, and existing school partnerships via phone, email, text, and individual meetings to provide student enrollment support and troubleshoot enrollment barriers.
  • Coordinates and plans educational guidance activities, events, and conferences with students and officials from high schools, community colleges and community organizations located in the Dallas Fort Worth market (e.g. local counselor conferences, Preview Days, Counselor Updates, Transfer Workshops, etc.).
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses and conferences, and attending training and/or courses as required by the Director of Undergraduate Admissions in Recruitment.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Division of Enrollment Management and the University by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum six (6) years related experience in higher education, academic partnerships, or similar field. A proven track record for making data driven decisions to support achievement of enrollment goals is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and sensitivity to issues related to the retention and recruitment of a diverse student body are required. Good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. Knowledge of spreadsheets, database applications, and use of a CRM are required. Familiarity with office applications software, preferably Microsoft Office, is required. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive relationships with prospective students and their families is required.
  • Ability to: Ability to travel to high school and community college day and night programs and other visits throughout Texas is required. Ability to work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. Occasional overnight travel and evening and weekend work is required.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree. Two (2) years of supervisory experience. Experience working for an education-focused non-profit (including community-based organizations or institution of higher education. Familiarity with database systems such as Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft or some other type of database product utilized by institutions of higher learning is preferred. Strong sales background and people skills preferred, background in customer service, sales, marketing, and higher education are beneficial.
