ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

As a member of the Research and Institutional Effectiveness Office the Senior Research Associate works with other members of the department in its mission of leading the gathering, processing, and presentation of quality, actionable information, facilitating institutional effectiveness by providing institutionally-relevant information to College stakeholders, offering expertise in research and evaluation, working across the College to build a strong culture of evidence, supporting institutional assessment efforts, and overseeing completion of internal, state, and federal reporting requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prepares and submits required institutional data and reports for compliance to regional, state, federal, and other agencies.

2. Prepares the standard and special institutional research reports including but not limited to Enrollment Reports, 10th Day Enrollment Report, Fact Book, Program Feasibility Reports, Course Success Report, Graduate Success Report, Market Share Report, Placement Report, Town Demographics Report, etc. .

3. Design, build, and administer various institutional surveys, including Student Satisfaction Survey, Graduate Survey, Alumni Survey, and Employer Survey and prepare reports from the results. Act as a consultant for survey research.

4. Provides training to other office staff in the preparation of internal and external reports, including the identification of data, retrieval of required data, basic statistical processing, and reporting.

5. Serves as one of the official college contacts for ICCB-MIS reporting.

6. Complete requests for ad-hoc research and reports from various areas of the College.

7. Collaborate with other members of the Research team in activities related to ICCB Program Reviews, Internal Program Reviews, Student Learning Outcome Assessment, and other assessment activities across the institution.

8. In collaboration with the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, continuously seeks and implements best practices in institutional research.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in social sciences, statistics, mathematics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of three to five years' experience in higher education, preferably in institutional research; direct experience working with faculty and college/departmental administrators in individual and group settings.

KNOWLEDGE

Demonstrated knowledge of research methodology, quantitative and qualitative research including survey research. Good understanding of state and federal reporting requirements for higher education institutions. Knowledge of data retrieval, data analysis/visualization programs and statistical packages; knowledge of research standards and ethics. Understanding of academic assessment and program review processes at higher education institutions.

SKILLS

TECHNICAL

1. Proficient in data retrieval, data analysis and visualization using tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, etc.

2. Experience in working with statistical packages such as SPSS, R, etc.

3. Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills including survey research.

4. Familiarity with academic enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Ellucian Colleague is preferred.

5. Strong skills in writing research reports and preparing presentations for different audiences.
