About Binghamton University:

The state of New York provided $60 million to establish a School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University. The school, which enrolled its inaugural PharmD class in 2017, is housed in a state-of-the-art, 105,000 square-foot building dedicated to research and education and located at the University's new Health Sciences Campus. The school's outstanding pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences leaders use contemporary medication management and innovative research to transform human health locally and globally. The research and clinically focused school is training the next generations of graduates to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered pharmaceutical care to diverse groups of patients, especially those in underserved rural and geriatric communities. Our new pharmacy simulations laboratory houses a hospital pharmacy with a 797-compliant sterile room, community pharmacy with a robotic dispenser, patient home setting, and three hospital rooms complete with electrocardiographic/respiratory/hemodynamic monitoring and high-fidelity manikins.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). In the future, the PhD program under development will be renowned for its contributions to translational, clinical and outcomes research within the changing landscape of drug development, pharmacy practice and clinical science.

Job Description:

Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for a full-time, Clinical Instructor or Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. This 12- month non-tenure track position offers an exciting opportunity to be a member of an innovative and newly accredited program. The primary responsibility of this position will be to work collaboratively with pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical science faculty to deliver all aspects of sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, compounding related calculations, compounding assessments, and other related curricular activities. Our curricular focus on compounding helps assure our students develop the skills necessary to safely and accurately prepare medications. These courses also prepare our graduates to practice in New York, which includes a compounding examination as part of the pharmacy licensing process. Our ultra-modern building includes a USP-797 compliant cleanroom and a dedicated non-sterile compounding laboratory. This position also has an expectation of research/scholarship, including oversight of a group of students for their research capstone project and service to the school and profession. The School assists you in developing a research program through an individualized mentoring team and the assistance of our grants office. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with top faculty researchers in clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, health outcomes and administrative sciences, as well as transdisciplinary scientists across Binghamton University. This position does not include a clinical practice site or precepting responsibilities for patient care rotations.

Primary duties and responsibilities

• Collaborate with departmental faculty to deliver sterile and non-sterile courses, as well as other appropriate didactic curriculum.
• Collaborate with other departmental faculty to develop and deliver calculation-based proficiency assessments throughout the curriculum.
• Demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence in the provision of instruction and assessment.
• Collaborate with other departmental faculty in the School to develop and deliver an integrated educational experience for students.
• Work with Academic Affairs to develop review materials for and assess student performance on the New York State part III exam.
• Independently, or in collaboration with other faculty, provide mentorship and facilitation for Research Capstone APPE students and Academic APPE students.
• Develop and sustain scholarship in an area of interest appropriate to pharmacy.
• Contribute service to the profession and our community.

Requirements:

• The successful candidate must possess a PharmD degree and be eligible for licensure in the State of New York.
• Prior sterile and/or non-sterile compounding experience is desirable.
• Prior experience as a faculty member, adjunct faculty, or preceptor at a school/college of pharmacy.
• At least two years of relevant post-PharmD experience is preferred.
