Under minimal supervision, Kirkwood Community College is seeking an instructor to teach one face-to-face and one hybrid writing course this Fall from 09/20/2021 – 12/14/2021 at our Cedar Rapids campus. Specific courses we are looking to hire an instructor to teach this Fall are listed below. Additional sections may become available. ENG-013-CRF920 Basic Writing, MTWTh 12:20pm-1:15pm (Traditional Face-to-Face) (September Start) 9/20-12/14 (3 credits) ENG-105-CRF92 Comp I MW 10:10am-11:05am plus one hour asynchronous/ ENG-109-CRF066 Integrated Comp TTh 10:10am-11:05am HYBRID September start 9/20-12/14 (5 credits) The instructor must evaluate, record, and report student achievement and progress in assigned courses in accordance with department, division, and College policies and procedures.UNIVERSAL CORE COMPETENCIES: Advocate for Continual Improvement- empowering each other to identify opportunities for excellence.Collaborate with Mutual Accountability- working together with a willingness to take ownership and account for our actions. Constant (67-100%)Effectively organize and teach Basic Writing and Composition curriculum in accordance with established and/or developed syllabi.Effectively teach in various delivery formats. In particular, effectively teach in hybrid (partially face-to-face on campus, partially online) format.Maintain current course syllabi for all courses taught. File a current copy of the syllabus at the beginning of each term in accordance with department guidelines.Effectively organize and prepare learning activities for assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi.Evaluate, record, and share student performance and progress on a regular basis and provide students with timely feedback.Make student referrals when deemed necessary to the other college personnel such as the dean, counselor, Financial Aid, etc., for more specialized information and assistance

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

A conferred Master’s Degree by date of appointment with at least 18 credit hours in English. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:Familiarity or experience with teaching college writing at all levels.Graduate coursework in Rhetoric, Composition, and the Instruction of Writing.Experience teaching college composition at all levels.Writing center or teaching experience at a community college.Coursework in college pedagogy.Demonstrated experience working with English Language Learners.
