Elementary Education K-6, 5-8 (Two Positions) - to teach K-6 Elementary and/or 5-8 content areas. The successful candidate will have expertise in related pedagogy and methods; experience instructing undergraduate students through multiple modalities such as online and hybrid teaching and learning; and the ability to prepare K-6, 5-8 educators to teach in settings at the elementary and middle school levels. In addition, candidates will mentor undergraduate K-6, 5-8 majors in the completion of edTPA portfolios for certification; write annual assessment reports; develop programs and update the curriculum; design program outcomes that include the use of technology to enhance K-6, 5-8 education; participate in accreditation program reviews; and maintain a research agenda focusing broadly on teaching and learning in elementary and middle schools.

Qualifications: Earned Doctorate degree in Elementary Education or a related field by September 1, 2022; and a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. Knowledge of and experience with CAEP standards and the accreditation process is desirable. In addition, candidates should have evidence of public school teaching in diverse settings; support of successful teaching experience at the college level (e.g. course evaluations, teaching portfolio); and a clear research agenda and experience with program development.

Positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant Professor effective for the Fall 2022 semester, unless otherwise indicated. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations. Faculty positions located in the Nathan Weiss Graduate College may require evening hours for graduate course assignments.

All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college, university and community level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in the Learning Management System, Blackboard and Online Learning Pedagogy is required, consistent with University guidelines. Kean may offer free voluntary Blackboard workshops to otherwise qualified applicants.
