Job Summary:

Outpatient diabetes management (up to 8 half days per week) in the Endocrinology Clinic at the Anschutz Outpatient Pavilion. This position will be primarily responsible for the care of return patients after new patient visits are established by one of the physician endocrinology providers, co-managing the patients with the physician as a team. A successful candidate will be responsible for interfacing with the diabetes, metabolism and endocrinology team in order to provide direct patient care, clinical follow-up, lab review and other duties primarily in the outpatient environment. 

Duties:

Performs comprehensive health assessment, including health history, physical exams, preventive screening, identifies medical health risks and needs.  Performs, orders and/or interprets diagnostic studies within scope of practice and clinical area of practice.  Assures that patient and family teaching is adequate to manage health condition or wellness plan at home.  Modifies care plan and reassesses and modifies plan as necessary.  Serves as clinical consultant, participates in self-directed continued learning, including quality improvement and protocol development.  Maintains CME credits as required for continued licensure.

Required Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of intensive diabetes management; either through multiple injections, insulin pump, therapy or other appropriate mechanisms will be required in this position. Previous work in the field of Diabetes as a PA, nursing or CDE level for a minimum of 6 months. Interest in learning and gaining experience in the evaluation and management of common endocrine disorders.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this poisition is $98,000- $109,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Experience, Education, Licensure

Certified PA or RNP from accredited program with prescriptive authority.

Must be board certified by a national professional PA/nursing organization.

Preferred Qualifications: Qualities desired for the position

PA, RNP/CNS diploma/certificate with prescriptive authority from an accredited post-basic nursing master’s level nursing practitioner or CNS program. Previous work in the field of Diabetes as a PA, nursing or CDE level for a minimum of 1 year.
