Job Title: Front-end Web Developer

Summary of Position: The Front-end Web Developer works with the residential campus Marketing & Communication team and is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of all content on IWU-Marion web properties, primarily indwes.edu/undergraduate, residential graduate programs and university blogs. The person in this role will guide the strategy of the website while interfacing with campus clients and marketing agencies, and is the primary point person for the development and oversight of marketing content and content templates.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process client requests through various forms of communication, including face to face, oral, and written.
  • Create and manage web content through CASCADE, our enterprise CMS
  • Use advanced, standards-based code in order to implement and maintain responsive designs and content to enhance the user experience
  • Monitor SEO score on key webpages and adjust regularly to optimize keyword performance
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work projects and work with individuals from diverse communities and cultures in a variety of formats
  • Develop content strategy to keep the university on top of higher education marketing trends
  • Manage and assign content creators when applicable inside the CMS
  • Strong Project Management skills are required
  • SEO - analyzing, reviewing and implementing changes to pages so they are optimized for search engines and maximize traffic by improving page rank;
  • Managing student workers
  • Managing the project request ticketing system
  • Auditing pages to maintain fresh and relevant copy and design
  • Maintaining faculty profile update
  • Collaborating with other university marketing web teams in support of cross-interest program navigation for end users and to to maintain consistency of site code, structure, and content along with ensuring browser and device compatability
  • Developing, maintaining and optimizing front-end and back-end components of web properties
  • Assessing and optimizing web pages through the use of web tools such as Google Analytics and heat mapping software
  • Available during off-business hours when necessary for occasional urgent needs
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned
  • Remote work possibilities will be considered.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree required

Experience

• Two or more (2+) years of relevant professional experience or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.

Required Skills

• Web content and design, including copywriting and wireframe build-out
• Advanced HTML/CSS/JS
• Excellent oral and written skills
• Enterprise Content Management System Management (Cascade Server or similar CMS knowledge)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
• Passionate researcher and learner, able to investigate complicated technical issues and determine best solutions
