Position:

Trinity Christian College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in the department of Philosophy. The ideal start date is January 2022, though candidates who cannot begin until the 2022-2023 academic year will also receive full consideration. Candidates should have a historical breadth and a well-developed hermeneutical approach to the discipline of philosophy, the ability to engage with the Reformational philosophical tradition, and a mature articulation of the integrality of Christian faith and academic learning. The ability to teach political philosophy in a newly launching Philosophy, Politics, and Law major is desired, as is the ability to teach logic. Both junior and senior candidates for the position will be considered, with rank commensurate upon experience.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Philosophy is required. ABD candidates will be considered.

Trinity seeks faculty candidates who are professing Christians and are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Successful candidates will possess the ability to articulate the relationship between their academic discipline, the vocational preparation of their students, and a vision for human flourishing that emerges from the Christian faith. Successful candidates are also dedicated to personal involvement with students outside of the classroom through advising and other informal academic and cultural settings.

Responsibilities:

This is a tenure-track faculty role. Specific teaching assignments will depend on the candidate's area of expertise but can be expected to include both courses central to Trinity’s general education curriculum and upper-level Philosophy courses. The Philosophy Department has a significant role in the General Education curriculum of the institution and hosts two majors: a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a newly launching Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Law. Successful candidates will have the ability to teach across these programs. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, meeting with prospective students, participation in the life of the department and the wider faculty, scholarly and professional achievement, and college service.

Compensation:

Rank and salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, pension, life insurance, and disability insurance.

Timeline and Application Process:

The preferred start date is January 2022, though candidates who cannot begin until the 2022-2023 academic year will also receive full consideration. For further information about the position contact:
