Position Summary

The University's Director, University Budget Systems & Analysis is a full-time, twelve-month staff position. This position, along with the Provost, the Vice Provost for Budget, Planning, and Administration, and the Associate Vice Provost, University Budget & Analysis comprises the central budget team charged with the development of the operating budget at the University. The Director, University Budget Systems & Analysis reports to the Associate Vice Provost for University Budget and Analysis. This position is involved in strategic and operational planning discussions with the University's administration that require absolute confidentiality as implementation and management options are discussed. The University's Director, University Budget Systems & Analysis participates as an active member of the Provost's Budget & Analysis team to develop the University's $536 million annual operating budget by managing collection of data from unit business officers, verifying data for accuracy, modeling the financial impact of university initiatives; and preparing presentation of data to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.

The University's Director, University Budget Systems & Analysis provides training and support for all University unit-level business officers in budget and business processes and is responsible for developing positive working relationships with other academic and administrative units on campus. Working with the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis, this position leads efforts to model complex financial concepts including enrollment projections, tuition rate increases, and revenue projections.

Essential Functions

  • Model student enrollment, tuition, financial aid, and other concepts; manage the policy of distributing tuition revenue to units across the University.
  • Gather, monitor, and analyze institutional data, in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis; design and prepare reports as needs present.
  • Develop and populate templates, dashboards, and reports to support the budget development process.
  • Execute the training program for new business officers. Provide ongoing guidance, information, and support for 45 business officers on campus and maintains an online platform for training and resources.
  • Approve all benefited staff position action requests, lead efforts on committees that are tasked with changing position-related processes and policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in business or administration management to include experience in financial management or analysis, preferably in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge needed to support institutional diversity and inclusive excellence initiatives and engage effectively with members of diverse and historically underrepresented communities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master or Doctoral degree in area of business, social science research, higher education, or related field from an accredited University or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Evenings and weekends as required.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 14.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
