Job Details

Participate and contribute to the development and delivery of education and training programs, communication tools and expanded educational technologies for the Office of Education for Research Administration and Finance.

Provide expert consultation, analysis, facilitation, research and project management in all areas related to the education, training and development of employees of a Duke business unit or organization with specific focus on e-learning/virtual learning.

Collaborate with OERAF colleagues and business units/departments across Duke University and

Duke Health System in all aspects of e-learning development to include needs assessments, course outlines, story boards, script development, and final content production.

Develop basic and advanced level traditional and e-learning (web and mobile courses) utilizing multimedia technology and authoring tools. Experience with e-learning tools including Camtasia, Storyline 360 and Rise.

Position requires the following:

  • Strong project management skills;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently;
  • Ability to work under deadlines;
  • Strong time management skills;
  • Strong skills in using Zoom and WebEx platforms.

Analyze current content for opportunities to transition and/or integrate e-learning components both for stand alone offerings and financial/research certifications.

Provide support (e-learning development, learning production, and administrative) for initiatives and events lead by OERAF/Finance.

Develop methods, procedures and systems to support learning initiatives and records

maintenance; evaluate and measure the effectiveness of training and development programs with specific focus given to e-learning.

Position serves as an administrator for business processes that support training compliance and organizational policies; such as: SABA and Sakai learning management systems, websites (Finance and myRESEARCHpath), etc.

Provides general customer support to include routine monitoring of OERAF in-box.

Position may work remotely based upon the Duke guidelines, but will be expected to be on site for scheduled meetings and events. Once operations are reinstated, staff may be asked to return to work on a more permanent basis.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires a general business background generally equivalent to a bachelor's degree in education, business or a related field.

Experience

Work requires 3 years related training and/or administrative experience to become familiar with general principles of adult education and the design/delivery of educational modules. A master's degree in education or a business related field may be substituted for 2 years experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Duke University was created in 1924 by James Buchanan Duke as a memorial to his father, Washington Duke. The Dukes, a Durham family that built a worldwide financial empire in the manufacture of tobacco products and developed electricity production in the Carolinas, long had been interested in Trinity College. Trinity traced its roots to 1838 in nearby Randolph County when local Methodist and Quaker communities opened Union Institute. The school, then named Trinity College, moved to Durham in 1892, where Benjamin Newton Duke served as a primary benefactor and link with the Duke family until his death in 1929. In December 1924, the provisions of indenture by Benjamin’s brother, James B. Duke, created the family philanthropic foundation, The Duke Endowment, which provided for the expansion of Trinity College into Duke University.Duke Campus

As a result of the Duke gift, Trinity underwent both physical and academic expansion. The original Durham campus became known as East Campus when it was rebuilt in stately Georgian architecture. West Campus, Gothic in style and dominated by the soaring 210-foot tower of Duke Chapel, opened in 1930. East Campus served as home of the Woman's College of Duke University until 1972, when the men's and women's undergraduate colleges merged. Both men and women undergraduates now enroll in either the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences or the Pratt School of Engineering. In 1995, East Campus became the home for all first-year students.

Duke maintains a historic affiliation with the United Methodist Church.
