Training Specialist - Institute for Public Service (IPS)

Regular, Full-time, Market Range 10

The University of Tennessee Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership (NCEL) has an opening for a Training Specialist in either their Knoxville or Nashville offices.  NCEL is an agency of the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service that provides training and research for local, state, and federal government employees. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

One primary focus of this position will be to successfully develop and deliver training programs (both instructor-led and online) to government employees across the state on behalf of NCEL



Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Education:   

A Bachelor’s Degree in Adult learning, Education, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Business, or a closely related field is required.  Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience:    

Job requirements include a minimum of 4 years’ experience in either adult learning or training. 

A combined minimum of four years developing curricula, evaluating instructional programs, performing logistical operations and/or delivering training and instructional programs and curriculum content, utilizing classroom and/or web-based delivery.  Requires team and independent planning, development and delivery of programs, curriculum, and course content. 

Preferred experience:

    Prefer familiarity with a learning management system.  Prefer experience in conducting research and grant writing.Prefer minimum of two years of program delivery in a government related setting. Prefer a minimum of two years of experience in providing technical assistance with executives and professionals including services such as mediation, coaching, program evaluation and needs assessments.
Skills:   

Requires knowledge of adult learning.  Must have the ability to write clearly and concisely.  Requires the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, ability to coordinate multiple programs simultaneously, work effectively with colleagues, University staff, clients, and key stakeholders. High levels of cognitive and intuitive skills are necessary to understand, design and implement successful training solutions for the needs of the client base.  Must have the necessary knowledge and skills to be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of tools. Candidates with experience in providing technical expertise in areas like strategic planning, program evaluation, executive coaching, needs assessments, mediation services, etc. would be preferred.
