Community Development Manager, Humanities Commons

Position Summary

The community development manager will work toward sustainable, accountable business growth for the Commons by cultivating interest in the network among scholarly organizations and institutions, and working to bring them in as participating members. The manager will work as part of a team to onboard new organizations and institutions and to ensure their success through the development of documentation and training materials, as well as ongoing communication and support. The community development manager will work with the team to develop a strategy for bringing new organizations into the Commons and will work with the project director to develop regular reporting mechanisms that track community growth and financial impact, and to organize and convey feedback to the development team.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate for this position will have strong interpersonal skills and intellectual curiosity and will be able to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external team members.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have:

• An advanced degree (MA/MS, MLS/MLIS, or equivalent) in a relevant discipline or a bachelor’s degree and comparable experience
• Demonstrated experience in community development in an academic context
• Demonstrated facility with the development and maintenance of business reporting mechanisms
• Excellent communication skills, exhibited through the development of outreach materials, training materials and workshops, and documentation
• Experience with using WordPress for community engagement as well as the ability to support new users in those processes
• Experience working collaboratively across disciplines and institutions to support academic work

Desired Qualifications

Further desirable qualifications include:

• Familiarity with recent trends in scholarly communication
• Experience with project management in a technical context, as well as with active collaboration with a technical team
• Knowledge of user experience research methods
